Tubular Prism
Rosie Burr is a stained glass artist living in Greensboro, NC. She grew up in Southern California where she spent most of her time on the beach. Spending summers with her grandmother, in Laguna Beach, gave her the chance to attend the Laguna Beach Art Festival in the evenings.
At the age of 31, a new mother with adopted fraternal twins, she found herself a stay at home mom. Needing a hobby to distract herself, she started taking stained glass classes. When she saw her first stained glass stepping stone, she was hooked. Hopping on the stepping stone craze Rosie started Floral Prism.
Creating mosaic glass stepping stones gave her the chance to break away from traditional leaded stained glass. Since then she has explored the medium through a combination of traditional stained glass with mosaics – making benches, lanterns, tables, and repurposed windows. Rosie continues to seek creative applications of stained glass.
Currently she is learning how to fuse stained glass and has started Tubular Prism. Using repurposed surfboards, she mosaics them her original designs and creates one of a kind outdoor showers.
