Bob Batura
Bob Batura is a professional furniture design and builder living and working in Raleigh, NC. His experience and craftsmanship in fine furniture and custom cabinetry span the past 45 years. After receiving a degree in forestry from Virginia Tech, he spent five years in in the field monitoring tree growth, harvesting operations and forest management. This experience led Bob to pursue his lifelong desire for woodworking as a full time business. Though mostly self-taught, he has attended sessions at Penland School of Craft where he studied with Rhode Island School of Design masters Tage Frid, Doug Sigler and Skip Johnson. Bob is an exhibiting member of the Carolina Designers Craftsman Guild and has shown his work at numerous events in the Triangle Area. His work has been recognized with awards from Raleigh’s Artsplosure, Durham Arts Council’s Centerfest, Cary’s Lazy Daze and Boylan Heights’ Artwalk. Many of Bob’s furniture and accent pieces are constructed from Downtown Raleigh tree species that were destined for the landfill. His passion is to reveal the true beauty of raw wood materials to create heirloom quality furniture and cabinetry pieces.
