Janice Maves
For 25 years, Janice Maves was a quilt maker in northern New England. After retirement she moved to Eastern North Carolina and began to search for a creative outlet that maintained the same conceptual and creative structures found in quilt making: making art from small pieces to produce a work greater than the sum of its parts. A class in paper collage was the catalyst needed to begin her current work as a paper collage artist. Using cut paper from magazines, books, maps, tourist brochures, and seed catalogues, she is inspired to create images of the natural world and the landscapes of her life.
