Jim Downey
Jim Downey began his adventures with glass in 1976 at Salem County (NJ) Community college’s Glass Technology program. In 1978, he started work as a scientific glassblower with Schlumberger in Princeton, NJ. After 31 years of service, Jim retired and is living his dream at Jim Downey Glass LLC located in Wilmington, NC. Jim Downey Glass was incorporated in 2005, and fully realized in 2009.
Jim’s glass ornaments are flamed-worked clear and color borosilicate glasses. He repairs everything he makes, often for free. Each piece is hand made with love and completely unique. Every ornament is dated, signed, and numbered.
Jim Downey Glass LLC supports sea turtle protection and local charities.
