Justin Campbell
Justin Campbell is a French-American sculptor, illustrator, and metal worker. His life began in Chambery, a city in the French Alps on May 23rd, 1984, the second son of American father Brian and French mother Katia Campbell.
Growing up on the North Carolina coast, he developed an intimate connection to nature, especially in and around fresh and salt water. Even from before he can remember, it was apparent to his parents how much he loved drawing and sculpting. He took every art class he was allowed in school. First studying masters and then imitating their style. Like many sons, his father taught him good craftsmanship with every tool in the home workshop.
After an eight month soul-searching trek through Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, he began studies in 2003 at East Carolina University’s School of the Fine Arts, one of the top Art institutions in the South-East. There he learned everything from art philosophy and history, to casting liquid metal and proper critique. After graduation, he spent one of his summers driving around the country, finding no place better suited to begin an art career than where it all started, Wilmington.
