Paul Whitty
Paul Whitty was born and raised in Northern California. Looking for a change from the big city life he moved to Wilmington, NC in 1987. He has enjoyed working with metal all his life and has been employed as a machinist for over 40 years. Being a metal worker for most of his life he was naturally drawn to the artistry of blacksmithing.
He took his first blacksmithing class in 2004 at John C. Campbell Folk School and has been in love with the art of moving and shaping hot steel ever since. He has been back to the folk school twice and continue learning his craft every day by attending blacksmithing events on the east coast. He is a member of the national blacksmithing organization ABANA and also the North Carolina organization NCABANA.
Paul started Creekside Forge in 2008 and has enjoyed creating many pieces of handcrafted ornamental ironwork and distinctive furnishings for customers’ homes.
