Bradley Carter
Bradley Carter believes abstract painting is the rawest form of visual arts. As an artist he is always striving to express my emotion, thoughts, and experiences. Abstract art allows him to express these topics in a uniquely personal way. When people ask Brad about abstract art, he likens it to attempting to define love. It’s unique to every individual because their interpretation of the world varies. Worldview is based on their experiences, their emotion, and their beliefs. It is an art that requires the viewer to not only visually experience the art but interact with it. Let who they are reflect upon the art and have an unique personal experience.
In his current paintings, the interaction of the artist and the materials is vitally important. Paintings are never pre-meditated but are worked on in groups as they travel through several stages before completion. Patience is a virtue that is important in Brad’s work, but not one Brad claims to possess. To accomplish the textures and creations, he must have several paintings working at all different stages. As the paintings develop their under- painting; shapes, color, movement, and textures start to dictate the direction of the painting. It starts to breathe on its own, it starts to have a life, a connection that allows the viewer to interpret and experience it. A viewer can stare into a canvas and be moved by crashing blues against a stubborn orange or a simple line that pulls them in.
“It can be as simple as we want it to be or as complex as the universe, but it can be amazing.”
