Cathy Johnson
Cathy Johnson paints a variety of subjects but she prefers wildlife and nature. She is especially intrigued with birds of prey and the wildlife along the southeastern coast. She views each new painting as an adventure, learning and exploring the mysteries of the animal kingdom as she works on each piece. She strongly feels that working from nature instills in her the need to capture and preserve the world as art. Whether working with charcoal, graphite, oils, or wood, she likes to manipulate mediums to capture the inner strength, personality, and mood of each creature.
Cathy studied art a UNC Wilmington and has taken many workshops and classes in painting and woodcarving from world renowned instructors. She is always looking for new ideas to further aid and educate herself in developing her own unique style. She has won many awards in competitions and her work hangs in private and corporate collections across the USA.
