Stephen Harlan
Stephen Harlan has established his own style in a world that is constantly changing. Masters of the past and artists of the present use techniques to create images that please, relax and inspire in very personal and unique ways.
Stephen was born in Minnesota and his childhood memories are filled with thoughts of family, friends and activities that kept his soul alive during the long winter months. His family relocated to Ft. Myers Florida while still in middle school. His love for the water began at an early age where he spent time, (literally) sailing into the sunset on the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico on his catamaran. Fascinated with the uniqueness of harbors and sunsets, and his passion with the mystery of shadows, light, reflection and bright vivid colors are the driving force behind his work today.
In the early 80’s Stephen, his wife and two daughters relocated to a studio on the Chesapeake Bay just outside Washington, DC. This was a continued source of inspiration for the next 20 years. He currently has his studio on Carolina Beach, NC where a whole new appreciation of the water has been a profound inspiration to his current work.
“Even after all these years, I feel that I’ve only scratched the surface, too many ideas and not enough time. To be allowed to pursue such a passion, I am truly grateful to my family and collectors around the world for letting me live my dream.”
